is this gigabyte network card supported?

i have mainboard Gigabyte M52S-S3P with nforce430 chipset..
RTL 8211BL chip

syllable can not find this network card.. this card is suported in new 7.0 freebsd and new linux distributions..


in freebsd is driver if_nfe

If you have programming skills, then this is the perfect opportunity for you to try your hand at porting this driver over. After all, Vander's driver porting guide uses a network card as the driver example.

It's probably a newer nVidia nForce chipset, and the forcedeth driver is out of date. We've tried to update it before, without much success (I don't have any hardware to test it on) so anyone is free to give it a go. In theory it isn't that hard, if you're a competent programmer.

Hi. I have programing knowleadge, but I am programer of Gui aplications. I love Gtk+ and Qt and I make in C, C++. I want learn ruby and Python. That I mean I dont know how is function network device... for writing or updating driver... but i think that changes will be little, no big changes when exist old nfe driver... only add some new version of ńfe device sipcific variables such adress and so........

You could buy a cheap old-type Realtek card.

I would love too, but without the hardware it's proven to be near impossible to do. At the moment I do not have the money to buy a new nForce motherboard. As Kaj says, if you really need a working network connection right now, you can get a Realtek 8169 Gigabit card for under $10 these days.
