Hi. Just downloaded the 0.6.5 vmware image to try out with Qemu, got as far as setting the wallpaper and ran into a problem. As soon as I applied my wallpaper selection, the mouse cursor disappeared and Syllable stopped responding to all mouse and keyboard input. (Well, Tab was the only key I really expected to do anything.) Now, on logging in I see the wallpaper drawn and that's the end of it, nothing appears after the wallpaper. Wallpaper chosen was "Enterprise over Spain."

Qemu version is 0.9.1. Qemu command line is:
qemu -std-vga -hda Syllable.vmdk

Did you change the window decorator to Winter or Blue? They're broken in 0.6.5 and cause similar effects.

Qemu requires I use -std-vga on my system to get beyond exactly what you are describing; try that and see if it works.

He said he used that.

By the way, is that on Windows that it doesn't work without? On Linux it makes little difference.

Ah, I didn't notice that he noted the command he used.

On my Arch Linux install here, it makes all the difference to use -std-vga when booting, otherwise I'll be able to login but the desktop will be blank (no picture, icons or dock) and the cursor will stop responding (aka the system will lock up).

I'm guessing this was the (now fixed) Winter & Blue decorator crash.
