When i try to install syllable the format program , prints out this message instead of formating the partition for syllable.

I have 4 Gb of RAM and an AsRock N68-S Mainboard with nforce 630 chipset and geforce 7025 .

What is "exactly" the problem with command format , partitioner seems to be good but format cannot allocate memory ┐why?

Did you make that 250 GB drive into one partition? I don't know if anyone has tried such a large partition before with Syllable. Could you please try with a smaller partition?

Well, smaller. Until it works, I guess.

We have increased disk size limits in the past, so it's always a work in progress. I think people have tried disks of around 120 GB, but I can' t remember reports about bigger partitions. Before we know if we should fix another limit, we have to know what the problem is.

In theory the maximum size is around 128GB. AFS can handle huge filesystems (it is 128bit) but the limit is due to a bug in the format command. However there is almost certainly no need for such a large AFS partition for Syllable: 2GB should give you more than enough room for everyday use, 32GB if you intend to build Syllable from source.
