Hello.

I wrote one post in the spanish section (my native language)
and I would like to write another one here just for say hello and thanks,
shorter one cause my poor grammar and expresion skills ;P

Anyway, I can resume it in one famous sentence by Linus (taking it out
of contest but here will fits quite well):
"If it compiles, it is good; if it boots up, it is perfect."

To me, Syllable Desktop is perfect and I would like to give thanks to
developers and everyone working at the Syllable Team for this great O.S.

This is the "evil plan", make a dual boot Syllable/Mandriva on this 12 years
old and still active machine (wishing it keeps running until 2022 at least XD):

- Pentium II 266 MHz
- SDRAM 256 MB 66 MHz
- Geforce 5700LE (agp x2)
- HD Maxtor 10 GB Udma 33

Saludos y muchas gracias Smile

Well, if we can read your post, it is perfect. Wink

Welcome, and thanks for a nice post! Your machine looks like an excellent target for Syllable. You have a copious amount of RAM there (more than in my laptop), but I suppose you need it for Mandriva. Smile

Syllable Premium 0.6.5 installed and running (I'm writing this on AEdit as
draft).
The installation process is fast and very easy: "yes" "Enter" "yes" "m" ... lol.

14 seconds takes to boot on my machine XD (to get the login promt but
the Desktop loads very fast as well).
I chose to install Syllable full Hard Disk (no Mandriva dual boot).
Well, now I have to download the update package to 0.6.6, but first I'm going
to explore the system for a while and learn some about it.

Saludos Smile

It's better to install Syllable 0.6.6 clean. The Premium CD is currently mostly useful for the extra source code and packages, although it's best to always check if newer packages are available on our site.

Thanks Smile
