I decided to give Syllable a try on a small ITX box to use for a network file server. The LiveCD boots and the system appears to load however all I get is a blank screen with the mouse pointer ( which moves ).

Is there some other key or action I am expected to perform in order to get some GUI to appear?

No, it should boot to a log-in screen, from where you would continue to the desktop.

Have you tried the various safe modes? There's most likely an incompatibility with your hardware. The trick is to find which hardware, so that can be disabled or put into a safe mode.

By the way, the new 0.6.7 development build has more server support than the 0.6.6 live CD.

There's nothing particular in there that gives me a clue to what could be the problem. It'll have to come down to testing the safe modes.

So far I have resorted to all the modes available except command line which would leave me at a total loss !
