Is AltME a proprietary protocol? Could we make an IRC relay?

The thread title.

If we could make a relay, those that can't easily run X11 on Linux (like myself) can use IRC, while those that like AltME can use that.

Of course, if AltME gets its "fame" from using a proprietary, closed protocol, HMPH, this idea won't work then.

So... does that mean the AltME chat protocol is... open?

And I'd be writing my bot in PHP since that language "works" and it's what I'm most comfortable with.

Do you have somewhere I might be able to put it server-wise, if I managed to make something that worked? Very Happy

No, it's proprietary (& encrypted) as far as I know.

The protocol is closed, but the data is in open text formats. There are web publishers that publish chats to a web site. It works similar to the web log of Syllable on rebol.org, linked from our front page.
