No, people talk a lot, but don't put their money where their mouth is.

Yeah, it sadly seems people have lost interest. Is no one interested in taking POTM on and helping to drive it?

And where shall that be? Before putting money, read effort, POTM should be defined. Maybe for this first one Kaj or Vanders could point out one, just to get things moving Smile

Then let me put a poll up with some of the suggestions here, and people can vote and post if they're interested in helping out. If we get enough interest, I'm willing to setup a Wiki here on syllable.org for POTM.

POTM was talked about as a community project. In other words, it's for the community to execute, without central leadership.

2 - Write a backend for gnash and integrate it with webster?
[/quote]
Obviously I missed all the fun here in the last months Very Happy when I concentrated on getting PC-BSD 7 AMD64 running. There is currently no way to run the Adobe flashplayer on this architecture (no native port, no wine). So I'm stuck with gnash - and it doesn't work. When trying to run flash videos from YouTube & co: sometimes it might play the first one, sometimes not even that.

As I've stated here two or three times, for me, a serious OS needs to perform certain tasks, one of them is being able to browse YouTube.

I've also mentioned the approach of the ARCHOS portable multimedia player: Whenever a FLV is being transferred, a window pops up and asks whether you'd like to play this video. The video gets buffered and fed into an ordinary movie player with FLV decoder (we have mplayer and vlc on Syllable).

I believe this a suitable project of the month that can be done in one month.

There's plenty of code out there how to extract the link to the FLV file from a webpage, e.g., this handy bookmarklet on http://1024k.de/bookmarklets/video-bookmarklets.html
