I've been working on some modifications to pdcurses including SDL 2.x support and ability to use SDL_TTF (with limited UCS-2 support for internationalization). I believe the work (or most of it) has now been incorporated into the official pdcurses repository on github. The developer of pdcurses win32a has a fork of pdcurses with added color support for SDL (similar to his additional color support for Windows). Hopefully that will get incorporated into the official version at some point as well.

I also have ports of libmenu and libform (based on BSD versions of these libraries) that will work with pdcurses.

Maybe some of the new functionality will be helpful to Syllable users.

I think PDCurses worked on Syllable, so the stuff on top of it should also work or be portable.
