Syllable Desktop v0.6.7 is from 2012 (4 years ago).

When we will have a new version?

Thanks

There is currently no new version scheduled. Interest in Syllable is too low to warrant the effort.

Apart from the novelty value, what would you need in a new Syllable release?

Hi,

Just more drivers added as this is the perfect OS for netbooks, just love the speed of this OS, if more drivers, more devices it will support im sure more people will download and use it.

Well done on making this OS

Thanks, Steve. Any particular drivers you are missing? If more users come out of the woodwork and speak up, it may motivate developers that it's worth to do the work.

Wireless needs a wireless stack implemented first.

There is no Flash plugin for the browser, but there is limited ability to play Flash video with FFMPEG.

Thanks for the donation offer. However, if just a few people donate, it would be a very expensive proposition.

Hi Kaj,

Maybe i have found a solution http://www.osnews.com/story/852/AtheOS_Fork_Breathes_Life_to_BeOS

port to new linux kernel loads of drivers, Atheos software ports very easily, can run Beos software too.

new version and very quick for the developers to roll out, i have the download for cosmoe if interested let me know.

Just a thought anyway let me know your thoughts, more dirvers, more hardware supported more users Smile

Thanks

Cosmoe is very old, from the early days of Syllable. We did port to the Linux kernel ourselves. There's a recent thread about it on this forum.

Just out of curiosity I took a peek at Syllable again... Nice to see some recent interest! How's life been to you Kaj? I hope this recent activity will give a new spark of life to this wonderful little OS project... Best regards, Ruud

Hey Ruud! That is a long time ago indeed. How are you?

It's been hard. The Syllable war was followed by the financial crisis. I've been laying low to bide my time. I'm currently gearing up for some public projects again, using the developments we've done in the meantime. If we can get some renewed interest I'll see what I can do for Syllable.

That would mean that your still the only developer at Syllable? Bummer! I'd hoped that you'd get some assistance from a few young developers, who'd be happy to learn from you and help you develop this wonderful gem...

Friday I'll be at the Chamber of Commerce to start my own little business in graphics design, webdesign, start to visit 'open coffees' etc. Wink

If there's a thing I could do for you, throw me a PM.

Have a nice evening Kaj, nice chatting with you.

Thanks Ruud.

There are some people making contributions to Syllable now and then. I haven't been very active; I'm currently more the maintainer than the developer.

Good on you for starting a business, too. Good luck!
