Must be a binary incompatibility then. Arno is tweaking Syllable to support ABrowse better, so he must have a new ABrowse version.

Oh, it just occurred to me that it's probably because cURL is missing. Isn't there a message to that effect in /var/log/kernel?

Are development ISO's still released? If so, where are they hosted these days? I'm back and ready to play! Twisted Evil

If that's the lastes one, then I'm in trouble. I can't get it to install. It's having problems accessing the ata driver. The error says,
"0:init::init(-1) : Checking under /dev/disk/ata" & all it does is keep repeating. Sometimes the first characters are 0:, but every now & then it'll say 1: at the beginning of the line.

The 0: & 1: indicate which CPU the thread is running on. Have you tried the usual kernel options like "enable_ata_dma=false"?

That's where I was messing up! Shocked I was trying to use 'disable_dma=true'. It's hard to find such simple solutions without having to ask these days, since the site's had to be rebuilt. Is there a new spot for docs these days?

Right along the front page, but it's not complete yet.

it would seem that 'enable_ata_dma=false' would leave me high & dry as well.

Problem solved. It seems that the installer will no longer tolerate my dvd burner being set as an IDE slave. I had to change this to master. I found the solution on another topic in this forum. It reminds me of why I love the Syllable forums so much! Wink
