Camera should respond to single-click. People are having trouble finding out how to make a screenshot. The screenshot should probably also go into the clipboard in addition to ~/Pictures/ to satisfy people's expectations.

I think it should have a little balloon like tooltip warning the user that his picture was saved with the given filename under Pictures

Ok, in the effort to continue aggravating my allergies to C/C++; Very Happy(while I am watching the Tigers' game) I have switched the plugin to a single-click and tested - works fine. Would you guys rathe have it just copy to the clipboard and not save and let the user handle that or do both? I too like having a single-click instead of a double-click.

I think the clipboard is text-only.
And what's wrong about saving the screenshot anyway? You don't want a screenshot, that don't get saved, so if anything, it should be possible to set where it's getting saved, instead of forcing the user to do something that isn't the users job to do.

Do not put it in the clipboard because the clipboard is only text right now...

Yes, I discovered after looking at the clipboard api online that it is text-only. I do not have a problem with it being saved to a png file myself - I was just asking for a consensus. Well do y'all want me to generate a diff for the single-click and send it in or do y'all want to stay with the double-click?

I'd prefer single-click, or at least conforming to the single/double-click setting of the desktop.

Ok, I have generated a diff named camera.diff and uploaded to Flemming's server.

May I suggest that you change the label "Single clicking icon..." to simply "Clicking icon..." (line 318 of camera.cpp; line 77 of patch) - saying 'single clicking' is just confusing if there is no double-click action.

Also, you might want to remove the drag&drop code - currently you can drag the camera icon off the dock to remove it from the dock, but most other dock plugins can't be dragged. Unless Rick has some plans for drag & drop of dock plugins, it can probably be removed from the camera plugin. The pertinent code is that in MouseDown, MouseUp and MouseMove and any references to m_bDragging and m_bCanDrag.

If there is a good reason for keeping the drag&drop, then you'd need to change the code some more so that the icon triggers on mouseup rather than mousedown.

The plan is for all dock applets to have that ability, so the drag and drop functionality should stay.

Ah, ok.
Currently the dock plugins derive from View, so they would all have to duplicate the drag & drop, rightclick menu etc functionality. Are there plans for a base DockPluginView class which could provide this functionality and provide hooks for Click(), DoubleClick(), etc? A plugin could still derive directly from View if it needed more control than the DockPluginView provided.
